Founded in 1869, the college is a highly selective, nationally ranked, independent, coeducational, residential liberal arts college of 1700 students located 25 miles from center city, Philadelphia. Working in conjunction with the faculty, coaching staff, and Admissions Department the Athletic Director will be responsible for attracting leading scholar-athletes to Ursinus College and for optimizing their opportunities to excel both athletically and academically. His/her day-to-day responsibilities include the oversight of a 24 team intercollegiate athletic program that requires: (a) maintaining the quality and integrity of athletic programs within the framework of a liberal arts institution, (b) managing the fiscal resources of the department, and (c) recruitment and development of student-athletes. The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• multi-faceted leadership skills , proven to be successful within a diverse working environment
• a vision for the enhancement of the athletic program within a Division III, liberal arts framework
• an integrative recruitment philosophy that compliments the goals of the Admissions Department
• creative management solutions within a challenging economic climate.
Minimum qualifications: a master’s degree with three to five years of relevant administrative responsibilities; familiarity with the educational and athletic philosophy of the Centennial Conference or like-minded Division III conference; and effective leadership and communication skills.
