Assistant Professor Position in Jewish Studies Ursinus College invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Jewish Studies to begin in fall 2010. Area of specialization open. The committee will consider applicants with primary expertise in history, literature, religion. A Ph.D. or equivalent is required by the start of employment. Teaching responsibilities will include courses such as Introduction to Judaism, Hebrew Bible, and Jewish Civilization and Culture; other introductory and advanced courses in Jewish Studies; courses in the candidate's area of expertise; and the Common Intellectual Experience, an interdisciplinary liberal studies seminar for first-year students. Knowledge of Hebrew highly desirable. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts setting and should be comfortable teaching a range of subject material. He or she will also mentor student research, carry out a continuing program of scholarly activity, and help develop a Jewish Studies minor.
