Ursinus Campus Community Responds to Recent Grand Jury Decisions

Members of the campus community have responded to recent grand jury decisions in Missouri and New York. Students held a “die-in” on Olin Plaza on Thursday, a silent protest enacted at campuses all over the country. On Friday, more than 100 students, faculty and staff gathered for a community discussion.

“The grand jury decisions require all of us to participate in a serious and thoughtful examination of societal issues,” said Interim President Terry Winegar. “This is a complicated conversation to have and it demands all of us at Ursinus to react in a respectful manner. As a community we believe that everyone has the right and obligation to articulate his or her views to others, to listen to those others’ views, and respond with reasoned arguments.”
