Campus Health Updates
CDC and the Ebola Virus, October 2014

As Ursinus monitors world health issues that could pose a threat to campus health, the college is closely following the CDC and World Health Organization’s response and guidance to the Ebola virus outbreak. According to the CDC, the Ebola virus disease (EVD), which has been heavily covered by the United States news media, poses little risk to the U.S. general population at this time. However, since mid-August, the CDC has raised the virus from a Level-1 alert to a Level-3 alert for West Africa and advised U.S. healthcare workers to be alert for signs and symptoms of EVD in patients with compatible illness who have a recent (within 21 days) travel history to countries where the outbreak is occurring. Ursinus will continue to monitor events closely and keep our campus updated as changes develop. If you have questions please consult this link to the CDC Q&A website   Feel free to call the Wellness Center for information if you have any questions or concerns at 610-409-3100.

Influenza Update, January 2014

Ursinus College Emergency Medical Services (UC EMS) is the college’s on-campus service focused on providing emergency medical care to all students, faculty, and staff.

Its membership is compiled completely of students, of whom are certified emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and first responders, as well as general uncertified student support.

Student leaders work closely with the college’s campus safety and residence life, in addition to the local ambulance squad, to provide the best campus care that it can.

The organization is in service twenty-four seven during each term and occasionally during summer and winter breaks, depending on academic schedules of the certified students. MORE>
