ADA Graduate Assistant

Ursinus College seeks a graduate student interested in working with students with disabilities and assisting with related administrative tasks.  The ADA Graduate Assistant will be supervised by the ADA Administrator, Yuriko Beaman, and will be responsible for communication with students, parents and faculty, record keeping, and data entry.  The position requires an appreciation for diversity and sensitivity to the needs of others, specifically those with disabilities.  

In addition, the ADA Assistant will provide academic support and guidance to students with disabilities who are on academic probation.  The ADA assistant will work with the Student Academic Associates (peer mentors) to create an effective academic probation program.  The successful candidate must be able to teach and model good time management and organizational skills.  Previous experience with tutoring or peer mentoring is preferred. 

The successful candidate will be conscientious, detail oriented, and understand the importance of working with confidential information, specifically student records.  This position requires superior computer and communication skills.  The successful candidate will be proficient in a variety of computer programs, such as Word, Excel, and web based email/software/applications, including Blackboard and Facebook.  In addition, previous experience working with assistive or adaptive technology programs is preferred.  

Additional duties may be assigned as needed.    

Stipend of $2400 for the Spring 2014 semester (based on approximately 15 hours of on campus work for 16 weeks)
