Printmaking assistant

The Print Shop and Painting Studio assistant’s duties include maintaining the Print Shop and Painting Studio in a neat, safe and organized manner, setting up the shop according to the day's requirements and supervising clean up. Printmaking and/or Painting experience expected. The assistant should expect to maintain a studio practice in the darkroom and lead by example. The tasks will include:
- Help to clean, maintain and organize the studio and equipment
- Maintain and track supplies including inks, papers, solutions and cleaning supplies
- Perform bi-weekly visual checks of the studio, presses and workspace
- Conduct inventory of materials monthly
- Inform the instructor if anything needs repair or attention
- Provide students with materials or assistance as needed
- The assistant may also participate in critiques and other class activities in including field trips
- Meet with the instructor weekly to go over tasks
Qualifications: Must have taken ART105.A or have equivalent experience. Assistant will be trained in the specifics of the Ursinus printmaking studio.

sculpture studio assistant

The primary role of the Sculpture Studio Assistant is to help maintain a neat and orderly studio environment for the sculpture area. This includes the following duties:

  • Assist in the weekly use and basic maintenance of all equipment including the wood shop facilities.
  • Assist with in-class demonstrations including preparation and clean up.
  • Help facilitate class clean up and conduct additional cleaning as needed.
  • See that supplies are organized and properly stored.
  • Conduct inventory of supplies as necessary.
  • Additional tasks as assigned each week.

The assistant may also participate in critiques and present work in the Ritter Studio Gallery. This position provides a distinct opportunity for skill development through hands on experience with sculpture materials and equipment.

Experience with wood working equipment is desirable.

Student Assistant

Assisting Media & Communication Studies and Art/Art-History’ faculty and secretary. General clerical tasks, good organizational skills, ability to work with a variety of faculty and staff;  proficiency in Word and Excel. Web design skills a plus. Delivery and pick-up items for departments as needed.   Number of hours per week: Variable – 6 hrs/wk. MCS and Art/Art-History majors and work-study students are preferred.

 

Student assistant-photography

The primary role of the Photography Assistant is to help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient darkroom. The assistant should expect to maintain a studio practice in the darkroom and lead by example. The tasks will include:

- Help with mixing stock chemistry and maintaining sufficient stock levels
- Help to clean and maintain and organize the darkroom and equipment
- Perform weekly visual checks of the silver recovery unit
- Conduct inventory of supplies when necessary
- Inform the instructor if anything needs repair or attention
- Provide students with paper and film as-needed
- Assist with in-class demonstrations and darkroom studio time
- If appropriate, there will also be opportunities to assist students who are learning Photoshop
- The assistant may also participate in critiques and other class activities in including field trips

Qualifications: Must have taken ART104.A or have equivalent experience. Assistant will be trained in the specifics of the Ursinus darkrooms and equipment.
