All General Duties and proficiency in three of the Special Areas listed below.

 

 QUALIFICATIONS
• People oriented – you enjoy helping people both in-person and on the telephone
• Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills – You love to write & share your ideas
• Ability to show close attention to detail, take initiative, follow directions & be creative
• Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, Facebook, Twitter
• Willingness to learn new software quickly
• Able to utilize a copier and scanner

GENERAL DUTIES
• Office Procedures: Photocopy, handouts, posting flyers, campus errands, answer phones, assist walk-ins, schedule appointments, etc.
• Post jobs and internships in UC CareerNet , research to find missing detail
• Active participation in and/or facilitation of Career Services Student Workshops and Events
• Demonstrate and explain the use of Career Services Resources to other students. Resources include UC CareerNet, CareerShift, Focus, CashCourse, Career Services Website, ILA, Career Ambassador and Mock Interview program.

SPECIAL AREAS
• Resume Support: Meet individually with students to enhance resume writing skills and provide Cover letter assistance. Review and edit resumes posted on UC CareerNet
• Newsletter Outreach: Produce weekly newsletters and Job Blasts.
• Communications: Schedule, interview, and write Internship Profiles for website and Grizzly. Develop short videos for the website.
• Social Media: Take the lead in using Facebook, Twitter and other social media to engage students in career events and keep them informed of job, internship and graduate school trends.
• Marketing/Graphics: Design and create marketing materials for programs and events. Produce TV slides and posters for events. Develop campaigns to increase student attendance at workshops and events. Develop departmental branding.
• Special Projects/Internet Research: Special projects to monitor current trends and/or provide materials for staff as needed.

EXPECTATIONS
• Maintain a regular work schedule
• Notify staff if not able to work regularly scheduled hours
• Must be dependable and have the ability to maintain confidentiality
• Be friendly and courteous to all; in person and on the phone
• Be self-motivated
• Meet deadlines
• Exhibit respect and professionalism – Business casual dress encouraged for events
• Generate new ideas and share your opinion
• Attend required training
