Math Peer Tutor

LAB ASSISTANT - CS 173


• Responsibilities:
• Assist student with programming issues during the scheduled lab period.
• Grade lab assignments, providing high quality feedback to students.
• Hold one or two scheduled office hour per week (time TBD).
• May be asked to provide demonstration programs for classroom activities.
Qualifications:
• Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Computer Science major with GPA> 3.0 preferred.
• Must be proficient in Java and object-oriented programming.
• Must be available either Monday from 12-12:50 p.m. or Friday from 1:30-2:20 p.m. for lab period.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Student must be able to work 4-6 hours a week.

TEACHING ASSISTANT - MATH 242

 

Responsibilities:

• Assist students with SAS programming and statistical issues during class periods designated for labs
• Hold occasional office hours as needed to support course assignments
• Provide high quality feedback to students in person and/or via e-mail as they complete course assignments
• Occasional assignment grading

Qualifications:
• Statistics/Biostatistics minor preferred
• Must have earned a B+ or higher in Math 243: Biostatistics or Math 242: Statistics
• Must demonstrate proficiency in SAS
• Ideally available M/F 11:00-12:15 and W 11:00-11:50; however, applicants with availability on a subset of these days will be considered
• Reliable and punctual
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication students
• Student must be able to work an average of 2 hours per week

Responsibilities:

 

• Assist students with SAS programming and statistical issues during class periods designated for group work and labs • Hold occasional office hours as needed to support course assignments • Provide high quality feedback to students in person and/or via e-mail as they complete course assignments • Occasional assignment grading

 

Qualifications:

 

• Biostatistics minor preferred

• Must have earned a B+ or higher in Math 243: Biostatistics • Must have earned a B+ or higher in Math 246: Statistical Computing (SAS) or demonstrate proficiency in SAS • Ideally available M/W/Th/F 9:00-9:50 am; however, applicants with availability from 9:00-9:50 on a subset of these days will be considered • Reliable and punctual • Excellent organizational skills • Excellent oral and written communication students • Student must be able to work an average of 2 hours per week

Teaching Assistant - CS 371
Responsibilities:

Grade programming assignments, providing high quality feedback to students.
Meet with the faculty member to design test cases for grading programming assignments.
May be asked to provide demonstration programs for classroom activities.
May be asked to conduct a homework lab for the class for some homework problem sets.

Qualifications:
Junior or Senior Computer Science major with GPA> 3.0 preferred.
Must have a B+ or higher in CS 371.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Reliable and punctual.

Must be able to work 4-5 hours a week.
