Alumni Perpective: Undergraduate Research

Erin Gorman '97

Divine Chocolate

“My undergraduate research explored ethical discourse and considerations of social justice in the works of Toni Morrison.
That research has proved invaluable to my current work running a chocolate brand owned largely by small holder cocoa farmers in West Africa.

My job, in addition to selling chocolate, is to create a space for West African cocoa farmers to have a voice in their own right.  To do this requires the ability to think broadly about race, history, and the duty we have to each other… I learned the skills to do this through my research at Ursinus”.
