Tenure-track Assistant Professor of French

The Department of Modern Languages at Ursinus College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of French, beginning fall 2014. We are seeking a well-grounded generalist with a specialty in French literature and culture from the 17th century or later. In addition, the candidate should be competent to teach Francophone literature and culture. Candidates must have a native or near-native fluency in French and a demonstrable research and teaching agenda. Familiarity with language learning technology and/or pedagogy is highly desirable. In addition to teaching a range of French language and literature courses, the successful candidate will develop interdisciplinary courses in English (e.g., African Cultures or a French and Francophone film course) and supervise students’ research and other independent learning experiences. Finally, candidates should be committed to a liberal arts education for their students. Regular participation in the college’s interdisciplinary first-year student seminar (CIE- Common Intellectual Experience) is expected of all faculty. Ph.D. required by the time classes start.
