future students

To ensure that minorities and other groups under-represented in science number among these civically-engaged scientists, the FUTURE Program recruits from science majors who belong to such groups.  Because exposure to research early and often increases the probability that students remain in science, FUTURE students join a research project in the summer immediately before or after their first year at Ursinus and continue that research during subsequent academic years. Throughout this period, they are mentored by a faculty member and an upperclass student engaged in the same project. Simultaneously, FUTURE students are nurtured and encouraged to become Fellows of the Center.
