Aviva is charitable gift planning professional, currently a Senior Consultant with The Sharpe Group.  Previously she served as Director of Gift Planning for the Marin Community Foundation, the University of California, Berkeley, and San Francisco Ballet.  She is an alumna of the University of California, Berkeley and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.  Aviva is the mom of an Ursinus alumna, a ballet fan and an avid scrapbooker.

 

 

Lida Kent Gifford ’90

A Connecticut native, Lida spent two decades in the Philadelphia region, beginning with her years at Ursinus. While an English major at Ursinus, she participated in various campus activities, including Meistersingers and College Choir, Alpha Sigma Nu, and The Lantern. After earning a PhD in chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania, she relocated to California and currently works at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory writing and editing a science website. In her free time, she sings in various choirs and plays the ukulele.

Founder and CEO of Equity Risk Partners, Michael Marcon has more than 25 years of financial services experience, specializing in private equity, alternative risk financing and transactional insurance products.  Mr. Marcon was a member of the basketball team, Residence Life, and the Cub and Key Honor Society.  He also holds an MBA in Finance from Drexel University, class of 1989.  His interests include woodworking, golfing and is active as a coach in youth basketball and baseball.  He resides in Alamo, CA and Fish Creek, WI.  Mr. Marcon and his wife, Mary, have two sons, Keaton Cross (Colgate University, 2009) and Matthew (High point University, 2015)

 

 

CHRISTINE (FREED) REID ’61

Christine graduated from Ursinus in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business Administration.  While attending, she was the piano accompanist for both the Messiah and touring choir.  Christine worked in information systems for the State of New Jersey 31 years.  She and her husband, Jim, now live in California.  Both retired, they enjoy sailing, skiing and traveling.

 

 

STEPHEN ROVNO, MD ’54

I have traveled with a  number of my wonderful '54 classmates, who get together regularly. Earned my MD degree from Penn Medical School in 1958, had Internship and Internal Medicine training at Einstein Med. Center (Philadelphia) and Anesthesiology training at Univ. of Calif. Med. Center in San Francisco (another UC ! ). I practiced Anesthesiology in San Mateo, CA, from 1963 to 1998 except for 2 years in the USNavy in Guam. I have enjoyed the outdoors, doing volunteer work and singing in a Barbershop Harmony chorus. My wife of 49 years and I have 3 fine sons and 3 stimulating grandchildren. 

 

 

Ed Skokowski ’81

While at Ursinus, Ed was a member of Beta Sigma Lambda. He graduated with a B.S. in Biology and minored in Psychology. After graduating, he performed data analysis for psychology research projects, which led him into computers. Ed brings over 25 years of computer technology experience to his current IT position at Safeway’s pharmacies. He and his wife, Diana, have been Bay Area residents for nearly 30 years, splitting time between San Francisco and Pacifica. Ed's other interests include seeing live music, skiing, & biking.
