anthropology & sociology

The understanding of cultural diversity within American society and the world is a central concern of the disciplines of Anthropology and Sociology.  Ursinus Anth/Soc majors develop this understanding by working with faculty on internships and field projects.  Ursinus students have worked at a shelter for battered women, assisted in the creation of a major exhibit at the Balch Institute for Ethnic Studies, assisted in faculty research interviewing black workers in Philadelphia, and conducted field research among the Amish in rural Pennsylvania.  In addition to your sound education in theory and methodology, our professors create opportunities to put you in the field, doing internships and projects relevant to your interests.

OUTCOMES

An Ursinus degree in Anthropology & Sociology can lead you to graduate school and employment in such fields as public health or administration, social work, law, global affairs, criminology, regional planning, gender studies and organizational development.
