Assistant Professor of Music Rosa Abrahams will attend the 5th International Conference on Analytical Approaches to World Music this summer. The conference will be held in Thessaloniki, Greece at the end of June. Included in a session called “Physicalities”, Dr. Abrahams will present her paper, entitled “But We’re Not in Zombie Mode: Meter and Selected Attention in Greek Orthodox Movement and Music”.
While in Thessaloniki, Dr. Abrahams will conduct field research in several area Greek Orthodox churches. This research will be a continuation of her study on interactions in Greek Orthodox movement and vocal meter.
Abrahams, a music theorist, received her B.M. in Music Theory from Eastman School of Music, and an M.M. and Ph.D. in Music Theory and Cognition from Northwestern University.
She joined the Ursinus College Music Department in 2017.
