We’re proud to announce that we’re funding eight projects designed to support the college’s efforts to create an even more diverse and inclusive campus environment.
The winning projects are:

The White Feather Project (Angela Bey ’19)

A theater piece for two actors devised from interviews of the Ursinus community concerning cowardice under racial stress. Performances will take place during the spring semester. 

Project on Migration (Rebecca Evans)
A two-credit capstone course designed to review research on migration studies and plan for a spring conference on the same theme.

Time Alone with Baldwin (Angela Upright ’17 and Codi Yhap ’20)  
The student-led book club, developed in memory of the late Rev. Charles Rice, provides students with the tools they need to find their voice in conversations about social justice, religion and vocation. 

Sisters in Spirit (Rev. Terri Ofori)

This program is designed to empower young women in higher education by creating opportunities to participate in a support group, help them to establish agency, increase self-esteem, support positive decision making and develop transformational leadership skills.  

Strengthening the Latino/a/x Community of Ursinus (Teresa Ko and Xochitl Shuru)  

Aiming to foster a more inclusive campus environment for members of Ursinus’s growing Latino/a/x community, programs will create opportunities to discuss issues that affect them and strengthen ties among its members. 

InQueery Speaker Series (Nick Hanford & EJ Madarasz with the Office of Student Affairs)
By coordinating a monthly speaker series on LGBTQ+ issues, the Office of Student Affairs will partner with departments across campus to provide networking opportunities and a greater sense of place for Ursinus’ LGBTQ+ population. 

LGBTea Time (Cyn Ercole ’21)

This program is designed to create conversations and facilitate discussion on queer topics affecting us on campus and around the world.

One Book, One Ursinus (Meredith Goldsmith, Diane Skorina, Katie Turek, Patricia Lott and Talia Argondezzi)  

This pilot project will invite members of the campus community to read a common text, take part in small-group discussions about it, and attend talks related to it throughout the spring 2019 semester.
