What’s New at Ursinus

The Ursinus campus is ever changing and evolving.  See below for updates on all things new at Ursinus.

What’s New at Ursinus?

  • Construction on the new Commons is well underway. The building, to be located on the corner of 5th and Main Street, will serve as the front facing welcome center for the campus, house Admissions, the college bookstore and a coffeehouse (in what is known as Keigwin Hall).
  • The Institute for Inclusion and Equity has moved to the bookstore’s former location within the Wismer Center.
  • Unity House was torn down to make way for the Commons and for safety purposes.
  • The new IDC (Innovation and Discovery Center) building had a successful year of classes. The building offers state-of-the-art classrooms, larger and accessible study spaces, an outdoor classroom and so much more. It also acts as a pathway between Pfahler Hall and Thomas Hall.
  • Some familiar faces have retired or have started the retirement process this year including Chemistry Professor and Chair Vic Tortorelli, Music Professor John French, and Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students Debbie Nolan.
  • New majors and minors include but are not limited to the Educational Studies major and Coaching, Food Studies, Human Performance Assessment, Scientific Computing and Wellness Education minors.
  • The Common Intellectual Experience has a new set of questions: “What should matter to me?,” “How should we live together?,” “How can we understand the world?,” and “What will I do?” This falls under the campus ideology of “Quest: Open Questions, Open Minds.”
