UC Students Place in Business Competition

Ursinus students compete with students from all over the U.S. making real world business decisions in a leadership competition.

Ursinus students placed first and second at the “Early Leaders Case Competition” at the Simon School of Business of the University of Rochester, where students made business decisions faced by business leaders across the globe.

The two-day team competition asked students from colleges across the country to analyze a case about a start-up firm that gives away one percent of its revenue to an organization that makes small loans to businesses in developing countries. Teams were asked to develop a marketing plan for the company and give a presentation to a group of judges comprised of Simon School graduate students, academics and business people.

Ursinus was represented by five students: Jacob Richardson ’15, Mark Branca, ’15, Paige Barbour ’15, Hunter Cole ’15 and Uli Luxem  ’16.

The team Mark Branca was on came in first place, and the team Jake Richards was on earned second place honors.

The Simon Business School at the University of Rochester has a Direct Admission Partnership (DAP) relationship with Ursinus College. Ursinus students who wish to pursue their graduate business studies immediately following graduation can apply to the Simon School and receive benefits including a waived application fee, special merit scholarship consideration, and priority admission consideration.
