As the Semester Winds Down

Here in the Center for International Programs, the staff and interns find it just as hard to believe as so many Ursinus students do: the semester is almost over! Friday, December 9th marks the last day of classes, while final exams run from December 12th-17th. As we reflect on the work we’ve done as on office, there’s certainly a lot to be pleased with, but so much still left to do once the spring semester begins.

One of the most important efforts we’ve made is to promote our office and the opportunity of study abroad to more of the Ursinus campus community. Students here have so many wonderful clubs, organizations, and teams to be a part of, that it can be challenging at times to introduce another new idea. But it has been, and will remain, our sincere belief that studying abroad is so incredibly beneficial in terms of student development.

Throughout these past few months, we’ve advertised at the Activities Fair, promoted visiting study abroad representatives, utilized social media, created an Ursinus Abroad blog, conducted Study Abroad 101 sessions in the Bear’s Den, tabled outside Wismer, and so much more. The response has been terrific, as we’ve had so many introductory questionnaires filled out by students expressing interest in studying, interning, doing research, and so many other things in a foreign country. The students that we’ve met not only here in Bomberger 104 but also out and about across this beautiful campus, have been truly engaged and interested in study abroad.

As the semester winds down in these last few weeks, we all hope that every Ursinus student has a tremendous finish to such a memorable semester. We will be holding six more Study Abroad 101 sessions the week of December 5th, which you can read about on our social media accounts, and we truly hope to see you there. If you are unable to make it, perhaps use this upcoming winter break to reflect on what you’ve gotten out of your time at Ursinus, and what you still hope to achieve. If for any reason you feel the desire to study abroad but don’t believe it to be doable, we encourage you to email us, or stop by the office, so that we can help you understand all the accessible options in front of you.

From Dr. Hardin, Ms. Alvarez, Kelley, Jasmine, and Aaron, we wish the Ursinus student body a great last few weeks of the semester, and hope to hear from you soon.
