Hardin Receives Outstanding International Educator Award
Melissa Hardin, assistant dean for international studies, will be honored by the Pennsylvania Council for International Education Board of Directors.
Hardin has been named the recipient of the 2017 David A. Portlock Outstanding International Educator Award.
This notable award is presented to global educators in mid-career who have exhibited evidence of ongoing mentoring of colleagues in the field, exemplary leadership in global education on their campuses, and consistent contribution to the field as seen in presentations, papers, publications or other academic enterprises.
The award will be presented at PaCIE’s annual conference being held Oct. 5-7.
At Ursinus, Hardin oversees all study abroad advising, manages relationships with foreign universities and study abroad program partners, and teaches the pre-departure orientation course.
As a member of the Office of Academic Affairs, she chairs the International Education Committee (IEC), approves transfer credit for all coursework taken abroad, and represents the dean’s office on a variety of projects from conferences to commencement.
