Morgan Sotoloff’s Summer Fellows Research on mTBIs.

My summer fellows experience was spent investigating the long-term effects of mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBIs) and how they can be measured using psychological batteries and neuroimaging techniques.

Specifically, we used a challenging working memory task combined with continuous monitoring of the subject through EEG and found that concussed individuals performed significantly worse on the task and showed variations among their brain waves throughout the task. This research gives evidence of possible long-term executive function deficits associated with concussion and implications of EEG as an efficient neuroimaging tool for concussion assessments in the future. I look forward to continuing this research with Dr. Bish this fall.
