Ursinus Lauded for Digital Prevention Efforts

The highly regarded Campus Prevention Network (CPN) Seal of Prevention recognizes best-in-class digital prevention and wellness programs.

The CPN seal represents the highest standard for online prevention education, with a rigorous set of criteria to ensure we are making a measurable impact across the critical health and safety areas of sexual assault, alcohol and drug misuse, mental health, and diversity and inclusion.

Students were required to participate in a series of online trainings aimed at creating a safe and inclusive campus community. Katie Bean, director of prevention and advocacy, says earning the recognition is “yet another indication of Ursinus’s commitment to student’s overall wellbeing.”

“While Ursinus has worked with EverFi to provide online education to new students, athletes, and other student leaders since 2018, this was the first year we had a hard mandate for four modules for first years and two modules for upperclassmen. I truly believe that the knowledge provided in these online modules, and the time and space to reflect on these topics, is critical to student’s success throughout college and beyond,” Bean said.

This year, Ursinus required the diversity, equity, and inclusion module online for all first-year students, including transfers. Students were also required to participate in the online alcohol module, drug module, and sexual assault prevention module.

Upper-class students were required to complete a sexual assault prevention module on healthy relationships and a new mental health module, which includes COVID-19 information.

Bean says the continued investment in prevention is central to upholding the mission of the college.
