Chemistry Department Awards and Senior Recognition

As the academic year comes to a close, the chemistry department takes time to present awards and recognize senior chemistry majors.

On Tuesday May 4, the chemistry department honored its award winners during an afternoon presentation in Pfahler Hall’s Musser Auditorium.

The following chemistry students earned chemistry awards this year:

The American Chemical Society Scholastic Achievement Award: Matthew Balestriere

The Chemistry Laboratory Technique Award: Michael Bonfiglio and Emily Franz

Ronald E. Hess Chemistry Department Award for Outstanding Pre-Health Student: Nicole Schmalbach

American Chemical Society Award in Analytical Chemistry: William Krueger

Ursinus First-Year Chemistry Achievement Award: Daniel Leach

American Chemical Society Division of Inorganic Chemistry Undergraduate Award in Inorganic Chemistry: Nicholas Balliro

The American Chemical Society Award in Organic Chemistry: Christina Wentz

The Ursinus College Chemistry Department Award in Organic Chemistry: Nicholas Balliro

The American Chemical Society Undergraduate Award in Physical Chemistry: Michael Bonfiglio

Afterwards, refreshments were served outside on the lawn by the main stairs of Pfahler Hall as faculty, staff and students had an opportunity to socialize with each other in the sunshine.
