Spring Awards

On Tuesday, April 26th, the Spring Awards ceremony took place in the Myrin Library.  Spring Awards combined the Publication Party with the Celebration of Student and Faculty Achievement to honor the contributions of scholarship, creativity, and achievement of Ursinus faculty and students from this year. Faculty publications including books, articles, and visual portfolios were put on display. More information about faculty work can be found here. Honor’s students projects were also recognized. The annual Beardwood toast was given by Dr. Peter Jessup, a member of the Emeriti faculty.

The Inclusion and Equity Awards were also presented at the Spring Awards. The award honors students, faculty, and staff who have gone the extra mile to advance inclusion and equity at Ursinus. This year’s recipients were Sophie Louis, class of 2024, Jennifer King, assistant professor of biology, and Michael Thompkins, assistant director of residence life. 

In addition to the Inclusion and Equity Awards, All-Campus student awards were also presented to senior students. The Dr. Frederick M. Binder Award, awarded to a student who shows the greatest promise of high academic and professional achievement, was awarded to Alyssa St. Jean. Zainab Williams and Simba Kanjanda recieved the Dr. Sidney L. Wagman Prize, which is awarded to students who demonstrate loyalty to high ideals. The Laughlin award honors students who have made outstanding contributions to their class and to the college was awarded to Carlie Esposito and Abby Peabody. The Robin Blood award, given to a senior woman who exemplifies outstanding qualities of leadership and scholarship was awarded to Ashly Chavez. Jalen Everette received the Teresa L. Urban Leadership Award, which is awarded annually USGA to a senior in recognition for outstanding leadership. Christine Heren, Tristen Maraglio, and Jesse Wun all received the Thomas P. and Frances T. Glassmoyer Scholastic Award, which is awarded to senior students with the highest scholastic average for four years at Ursinus.
