Community Conference Envisions Every Student’s Success

The annual Community Conference—held last spring due to COVID-19 and now back to its original August timeframe—brought together more than 120 faculty and staff from across campus to envision an Ursinus five years into the future.

Framed by the next strategic plan, Every Student’s Success, participants worked together in eight different breakout groups “future casting” the tactics required to reach aspirational goals in academic excellence, health and wellness, retention, debt and affordability, staff development, alumni loyalty, and equity and inclusion. The discussion groups’ aim was to agree on the plausible strategies necessary to realize a successful and sustainable strategic plan.

“We are one Ursinus and together, our goal is to take off the constraints and have fun visualizing what the future could be,” President Robyn Hannigan said.

The conference, held in Olin Hall, was organized by Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer Meredith Goldsmith and Nathan Rein, co-director of the Institute for Student Success.

Moving forward, strategic plan working groups will be facilitating discussions centered around strategic questions related to specific topics. A list of the groups and their chairs is on the Ursinus website at https://ursinus.edu/strategicplan. This October, the Ursinus Board of Trustees will receive a preliminary update on progress, and a draft of the strategic plan will then be submitted to the board in February 2023, to be ratified in May 2023.
