Independent Learning

Research and Internships

Majors have numerous, on-campus,  biochemistry or molecular biology-related, research opportunities during the school year or summers in collaboration with faculty housed in the Biology and Chemistry Departments, including several projects where students and faculty collaborate across departments. Many students take advantage of internship opportunities— ranging from gaining more knowledge of potential futures in health care to research work in companies — and other students who are interested in future graduate do research at universities during the summer. Although most majors fulfill the Independent Learning Experience (ILE) requirement through research or internships, some students also fulfill the requirement through study abroad or student teaching.
