Latin American Studies minors should be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the history, cultural concepts, and socio-economic processes of Latin America and its diasporas.
  • Examine the complexity and diversity of Latin America and its diasporas.
  • Apply multidisciplinary perspectives to understand the cultural, historical, political, and/or socio-economic issues of Latin America and its diasporas.
  • Acquire critical thinking and research skills to examine the culture, history, politics and society of Latin America and its diasporas.
  • Gain critical understanding of Latin America’s current and historical positions within global systems.
  • Gain critical understanding of issues of social justice and power in Latin America and its diasporas.
