Introduction to Theater

THEA 100 (Introduction to Theater)
Domenick Scudera, M.F.A.

Theater is a live art and can only be experienced live, in the theater, with performers and technicians making the magic happen.  When we read a play in a book, it is not theater.  We are only experiencing theater when we are breathing the same air as the performers.  Therefore, taking advantage of Philadelphia’s rich and vibrant theater scene will be a great asset to this introductory theater course.  Students will prepare for the theater experience by reading and analyzing plays and processes; they will then go to the theater to see the plays being performed live.  In addition, students will meet and learn from actors, directors, designers and crew members, plus they will tour theaters, visit design studios, and attend rehearsals.
