All UC students are invited to audition for
The Company of Wolves and Puss in Boots
two radio plays by Angela Carter
directed by Associate Professor of Theater Meghan Brodie
sound design by Visiting Assistant Professor of Theater & Dance Shannon Zura
October 29: 7:30PM
October 30: 7:30PM
October 31: 7:30PM
November 1: 2:00PM
The Company of Wolves, an adaptation of the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale, is a dark and twisted horror story of unexpected transformations. A sex comedy for adult audiences, Puss in Boots is a gleeful celebration of the adventures of this legendary talking cat. Both radio plays are from the unparalleled imagination of Angela Carter, named by The Times as one of the best postwar British writers.
The radio performances will be live-streamed. Details to follow.
- Sign up for a monologue audition time slot on the 2nd floor of the Kaleidoscope and take an audition form. If you are remote (and only if you are remote), please email Dr. Brodie to arrange for a remote audition.
- Please fill out the audition information form and schedule form and bring them with you to the audition.
- Please prepare a 1-minute published contemporary comic monologue (memorization is optional). You are encouraged to choose your own monologue, but you may use one of the audition monologues included on the audition form. You may also request a PDF of the radio plays to read and select your own monologue from one of the two plays.
Given the challenges of holding socially-distant auditions during a pandemic, I am partnering with the student theater group Breakaway to hold auditions on the same day and during the same time period, but in different spaces in the Kaleidoscope. Feel free to audition for both this department production of the radio plays as well as the student group’s one acts for the Fringe Festival. Please schedule your auditions for each at least five minutes apart. Breakaway has generously agreed to work around my casting and schedule so you may audition for both without worrying about conflicts.
Auditions will be held on the KALEIDOSCOPE Lenfest Stage on
Thursday, September 10: 3:30-7:30PM
