Congratulations to Gail L. Heinemeyer ’72
Recipient of the 2024 Alumni Service Award

Gail L. Heinemeyer '72 Gail Heinemeyer, Class of 1972, recalls the day of her graduation in Helfferich Gymnasium as her proudest Ursinus moment. It was the culmination of four years of self-discovery and overcoming obstacles as she prepared for a future as an educator. Heinemeyer made the most of her degree, serving 45 years in education in the greater Philadelphia area as a classroom teacher, coach, principal, and finally as director of support services. Throughout her long career and into retirement, Heinemeyer has always honored her Ursinus roots by giving back through financial contributions and encouraging classmates to stay connected to the college as well.

In her own words: “It is important to give back to Ursinus to ensure that the college continues to be a viable option for students seeking a solid liberal arts education. Allowing undergraduates to explore multiple interests and discover their passion results in young adults who are well prepared to achieve their personal and professional potential.”

Since graduating from Ursinus, Heinemeyer has served on multiple class reunion committees, encouraging classmates to stay connected to the college through event attendance and financial donations. She currently serves on the college’s Alumni Council, working to strengthen relationships between alumni and the current campus community. She is especially proud of her service on the Bear2Bear Committee, which supports the Bear2Bear Student Emergency Fund and has helped scores of Ursinus students through sudden financial crises and emergencies.
