Department Organization

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)

The committee shall be composed of representatives from each varsity sport who are in good academic standing. The role of the committee is to have a voice in the policy making of the athletic department. The committee will meet monthly and will be a liaison between the student-athletes and the athletic department.

Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR)

The Faculty Athletic Representative is a member of the Faculty who works closely with the Athletic Department Administration to integrate the athletics program into the larger education mission of the College.

Director Of Athletics

The Director of Athletics is the administrative head of the Athletic Department and supervises the entire operation. The Director of Athletics supervises the department’s recruiting, scheduling, budgeting, purchasing, coaching, and sports publicity. The Director’s duties also include developing and enforcing departmental policies, representing the Athletic Department on various levels and serving on committees that concern athletics at the college level.

Senior Associate Athletic Director/SWA

The Associate Athletic Director is responsible for NCAA Compliance and for scheduling all intercollegiate athletic games, practices and events. The Associate Athletic Director represents Ursinus College Athletics Program to other colleges, conferences, and athletic organizations. Her duties also include assisting the Director of Athletics with divisional planning, goal setting, budgeting and management of staff.

Associate Athletic Director 

The Associate Athletic Director is responsible for NCAA Compliance, Student Athlete Services and Diversity and Inclusion.  He develops and conducts student-athlete programming, partners with the Student Affairs division and works with the Academic Support staff with regards to academic eligibility.

Assistant Athletic Directors (3)

The Assistant Athletic Directors are responsible for various divisional duties such as coordinating searches for department positions, serving as mentors to coaches, preparing facilities for practices and games, managing external rentals, attending and observing games and practices and assisting in the administration of coach evaluations. Duties also include assisting the Director of Athletics in day-to-day operations of the athletic department.

Assistant Director Of Admission - Athletic Liaison

The Assistant Director of Admission - Athletic Liaison is responsible for assisting coaches with all recruitment of potential student athletes as well as serving as the liaison between the Admissions Office and the coaching staff.

Athletic Operations Manager

The responsibilities of the Operations Manager are to supervise facility, equipment, custodial and field services. Supervision of equipment will include the purchase, maintenance, distribution, collection, and inventory of all intercollegiate, recreational equipment. Additionally, this position will direct all facility maintenance involving the care and preparation of all athletic gymnasiums, courts, the stadium, and auxiliary buildings. Facility maintenance will encompass the supervision and scheduling of all facility maintenance assigned through the Operations Manager. The Operations Manager may also be responsible for the preparation of facilities for physical education classes, intramurals, and special programs and events. Duties will also include assistance of preparation in departmental budgets.

Director Of Athletics Communication

The Director of Athletics Communication is responsible for updating and maintaining the athletics web page and social media sites, distributing game stories and releases for each sport program, maintaining statistics for all sports, preparing weekly sports reports to the conference and the NCAA, maintaining archives and databases for all sports, producing game-day programs for each home contest, nominating student-athletes for awards and honors, and arranging photography for all teams (head shots and action shots).

Head Athletic Trainer

The Head Athletic Trainer is the coordinator of all injury prevention management and rehabilitative care for all men’s and women’s intercollegiate teams. The Head Athletic Trainer also recommends policies for protection of health and well-being of the student athlete. Supervising and training student athletic trainers, maintenance of medical records referring to athletic injuries are also responsibilities of the Head Athletic Trainer. Assistant Athletic Trainers and First Responders report to the Head Athletic Trainer.

Department Management Team (Senior Staff)

This team consists of the following members: The Director of Athletics, two Associate Athletic Directors, three Assistant Athletic Directors, the Head Athletic Trainer, the Athletic Operations Manager, the Director of Athletics Communication and the Athletic Department Administrative Assistants. The Senior Staff meets weekly during the academic year to discuss team schedules, areas of concern, future plans and staffing.
