Are you an artist? I am an appreciator, not a maker of art
Favorite Berman exhibition or memory:Stone Echoes: Original Prints by Françoise Gilot; the first comprehensive exhibition of the artist’s lithographs and etchings; the Berman published the catalogue raisonné, the opening reception brought her Curator Mel Yoakum Ph.D., her master printer Jacques Mourlot, her husband Jonas Salk, and her children Paloma Picasso and Claude Picasso, along with dignitaries and artists from across the U.S. and Europe to the Berman Museum of Art. It was magical and the scholarship on her groundbreaking use of color and composition in this medium holds up today.
What I love most about the museum: I love how the original intent of our museum facility, a library, has translated to a vibrant hub for the visual arts. Similar missions to collect, preserve, and make accessible our holdings, and the grand space that is our Main Gallery (the original Reading Room), are an enduring legacy for Ursinus College.
