    Safety Committee Initiative Fall 2019

    The Safety Committee has announced the initiative for Fall 2019. Each office is asked to complete a self inspection of offices beginning Wednesday, September 25. Check Your Office for Slip/Trip/Fall Hazards.  Complete the 5-minute checklist as a department team building event or individually.  Alternatively, hard copies of the checklist will be delivered to each department.  All inspections should be completed no later than Friday, October 11. Contact a Safety Committee member or the EHS/Risk Manager @, if you have any questions.


    Thank you for your participation in this Safety Committee initiative!  Results of the inspections will be provided at the upcoming Wellness Fair, October 24.

    Upcoming Class: Mindfulness for Stress and Anxiety

    During this class students will be introduced to the practice of mindfulness and will learn several different ways to meditate. Mindfulness is the ability to continuously paying attention to what is happening in the present moment with an attitude of openness, kindness, and nonjudgment. Mindfulness is something we can all do at any time. Meditation, which we will learn in this class, is one way to improve our ability to be mindful. Cultivating mindfulness can help you worry less, enjoy the pleasant moments in your life, develop well-knowledge, and feel less overwhelmed by changes and challenges.


    This class is designed to introduce you to the practice of mindfulness in the context of encountering stress and anxiety. We invite you to dive into your meditation practice with an attitude of curiosity and patience, knowing that meditation, like any new skill, takes time and practice to learn. During class, we invite you to share your own experience of stress and anxiety as we explore the ways meditation may help us feel at home in our lives, just as they are.


    No prior experience or knowledge is necessary–only a willingness to participate. This group will meet every Wednesday from 12:00pm to 1:00pm from October 2nd until November 27th in Olin 102.
