Dear faculty, staff and students,
As the widespread impact of novel coronavirus changes every day, I write to you with an important update we learned this past weekend. Three members of our Ursinus College community have tested positive for COVID-19: one of our students, who had been studying abroad this semester, and a member of our Board of Trustees and their spouse, who had been travelling abroad.
They are currently at home in the United States and in isolation. None have been to campus and we have no reason to believe there is risk of transmission by them to the wider Ursinus community.
While we’ve been hearing about cases in our county and region, this news certainly hits close to home for all of us. We have been in direct communication with each individual and can share they are all feeling better and are in good spirits, despite the circumstances. We offered our full support and reminded them that the entire Ursinus family stands with them at this time. Understand that we will not share specific details and will respect their privacy, though we intend to keep you updated on their general progress.
I ask that each of you continue to take care of yourselves and your loved ones and adhere closely to the official guidelines and recommendations of our health officials. As was communicated to you on Friday, faculty, staff and students should not return to campus until further notice.
