Dear Ursinus Community,
On Tuesday, April 7, we became aware that a supervisor with Olympus, our cleaning services provider, had tested positive for COVID-19. That individual was last on campus on Wednesday, April 1, and is currently in self-isolation.
Ursinus is a small community, one that undoubtedly includes our partners at Olympus, and we extend our well wishes for a speedy recovery to that employee while offering our support to Olympus. They have been instrumental in providing additional cleaning services this past March, ensuring that our campus continues to be a safe environment.
We have notified Ursinus employees who may have been in contact with the Olympus supervisor. Olympus has confirmed that the individual had been in only two buildings on campus: Ritter Hall, where the Olympus office is located, and the basement of New Hall, where there is a janitorial supply room. Both have been thoroughly disinfected and deep-cleaned.
Consistent with the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we will continue to monitor this situation closely and work with Olympus to ensure the well-being and health of our campus community. Thank you for your understanding and your sincere support of those members of the extended Ursinus family who have been affected by the virus.
