Biology Event - Thomas Jefferson Graduate Programs and Seminar on The Role of Astrocytes in Spinal Cord Injury

Join us to learn about the graduate programs available at Thomas Jefferson College of Life Sciences with Dr. Lisa Kozlowski, Associate Dean for Student and Postdoctoral Affairs. Then we’ll hear from alumnus Dr. Angelo Lepore about his research on the role of astrocytes in spinal cord injury. Spinal cord injuries represents a debilitating group of conditions that affect approximately 1.3 million individuals in the U.S. alone, resulting in physical and psychological burdens on patients and their families and huge economic costs. Dr. Lepore’s lab aims to look at the role of astrocyte glutamate transporters in the etiology and treatment of traumatic spinal cord injury. Feel free to bring your lunch!
