Grab your dance shoes! Chelsea Reed & the Fair Weather Band are performing two sets on the Berman front lawn’s dance floor, and they’re guaranteed to get your toes tapping.
Details
The Berman Museum of Art is celebrating Jazz Fest with Chelsea Reed & the Fair Weather Band, a Philly-based jazz and blues band specializing in music of the early 20th century. They’ll be performing two sets on the Berman Front Lawn on Thursday, September 21. Free and open to the public.
Swing dancing is encouraged but not required. A dance instructor will give a short swing lesson at 6 p.m. so that you can feel comfortable participating when the band starts its first set at 6:30 p.m. We’ve even set up a dance floor! If you’re not the dancing type, you’re more than welcome to enjoy the performance from a lawn chair or blanket as well.
Food and beverage will be available for purchase from the Plum Pit Food Truck and Brothers Kershner mobile taproom.
Parking is available in the College’s 5th Avenue lots and around the Schellhase Commons, with additional parking at the Ninth Ave parking lot adjacent to 179 East Ninth Ave.
“Chelsea Reed has the role down pat: As singer of the swing jazz band Chelsea Reed and the Fair Weather Five, she looks and acts like a singer straight out of New Orleans in the 1930s…She sings sassy and brassy, big as Bessie Smith.”
