Celebrating our Student Teachers from 2014-2015

Student teachers present their accomplishments in planning, instruction, and assessment

In December 2014 and May 2015, the Education department celebrated the work of sixteen student teachers in six certification areas (English, environmental education, health and physical education, mathematics, biology, and social studies). At these gatherings, the student teachers presented posters about a standards-based unit of instruction that they created and implemented during the semester, including their use of assessment data to promote academic achievement among their students.

At the end of the year, the department also presented two graduating seniors with annual awards. Elizabeth Reynolds ’15 was awarded the Barbara Olmo McInnis 1957 Prize, awarded annually to an outstanding student in teacher education. Cara Sulyok ’15 received the Lawrence Lange award, given to the graduating senior “who best exemplifies outstanding work in the field of education and is committed to nurturing the lifelong learning of others through a career in teaching.”

Congratulations to all of our student teachers!
