This past Saturday, October 24th, Ursinus College hosted the fall conference for the Association of Teachers of Mathematics of Philadelphia and Vicinity, also referred to as the ATMOPAV. The ATMOPAV serves as an organization that works to improve the mathematical education for all levels from kindergarten to college. The ATMOPAV holds a few conferences each year to gather educators to share ideas. These conferences include presentations, stimulations, and activities. Ursinus College has the privilege of holding the fall conference. This conference featured one of Ursinus’ own professors, Lisa Grossbauer. Grossbauer presented on the importance of education in statistics and how to get students interested in statistics. Throughout the conference, a total of 15 presentations and activities were held. The topics of these ranged from getting students excited about math to new educational technology developed by amazon. Other presentations focused on teaching techniques for young children, middle school students, and high school students. This conference was a huge success! It could not have been done without the help of the students from the ASA or the MAA. A huge thank you goes out to all that have assisted in the conference!!
