How Do You Spell Dinner and a Musical?

Does the William Finn musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee remind you of your own adolescence? Find out during the upcoming Dinner & a Show program.

Meet the Contestants

Ursinus College has again teamed up with the Collegeville Economic Development Corp. (CEDC) to offer a “Dinner & a Show” promotion featuring the Tony Award-winning musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. This hilarious and endearing show details the cutthroat competition of a school sixth-grade spelling bee while the participants are battling puberty, helicopter parenting, allergies, and the pressure to become the best speller in Putnam County. As a bonus, 15 local restaurants will be offering dinner specials to individuals who attend the show.

Performances for this wacky comedy are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25; Friday, Feb. 26; and Saturday, Feb. 27 at Ursinus’s Lenfest Theater. A 2 p.m. matinee will be held on Sunday, Feb. 28. Tickets are only $5 general admission and $2 for students and senior citizens. They can be purchased through the CEDC’s website, which contains information about the “Dinner & a Show” program and participating restaurants at collegevilledevelopment.org, or the Ursinus Box Office (tickets only) at ursinus.edu/tickets. Call 610-409-3030 for more information.

At both websites, individuals will be issued a receipt which they should show at the restaurant on the day of the performance to get the dinner special. Theatergoers will also need the receipt to give to the Ursinus Box Office in order to pay for and pick up their tickets. Theatergoers should arrive at the box office at least 15 minutes before the show begins.
