In July Ursinus was recognized on the Forbes Top Colleges list for return on investment based on student success and satisfaction. Now the college appears on a list of ten “undervalued buys” in an article in the August 23, 2016 issue. The schools on the list are noted for turnaround strategies leading to a positive outlook for the future, and high acceptance rates, making them accessible to more applicants.
Two other Philadelphia-area schools—Drexel University and University of the Arts—appear on the list, along with liberal arts schools Goucher College and Bennington College.
Author Matt Schifrin looked at higher education through the theory of momentum investing, noting that every year the top schools receive more applications and get more expensive. The ten schools on the list are cited for innovative management, and he describes them as “hot colleges in the making.” He notes Ursinus’s location close to Philadelphia and the business school background of president Brock Blomberg as positive factors.
