ENV receives grant for tree planting at Hunsberger Woods

Dr. Patrick Hurley’s 2016 Forests and People class has received a grant from the TreeVitalize Program for the purchase of 50 trees and shrubs to be planted at Hunsberger Woods. The grant and tree planting continue the department’s longstanding commitment and collaboration with the Borough of Collegeville, the Montgomery County Conservation District, and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society to improve water quality and wildlife habitat through reforestation effort in the borough-owned and managed natural area adjacent to campus. Funding for this purchase is made possible through investments in the grant program run by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Reforestation efforts through TreeVitalize contribute to the regional Plant One Million effort
