Students in ENV 332 Urbanization and the Environment regularly engage in community-oriented research. Students study the efforts of Urban Tree Connection, a local non-profit, play in reclaiming vacant lots and creating spaces for food production, recreation, and community gatherings. For the second time, students in the spring 2014 semester visited with residents in the Haddington neighborhood of west Philadelphia to learn about the ways that urban greening activities are making a difference in their lives and improving the neighborhood. During return trips to the neighborhood in April, students met with residents in their homes to interview them about the changes they have experienced.
