Periclean Faculty Leadership Award Announcement

Vanessa Volpe was recently selected as 1 of 12 faculty members across the nation who will comprise the second cohort of faculty members in the Periclean Faculty Leadership Program (PFL)™.

PFLs champion civil dialogue, civic engagement, and social responsibility through the creation and teaching of courses that address issues of social concern, enrich curriculum, and enhance student social interest and involvement.

Vanessa’s proposed course - tentatively titled “Civic Engagement through Community Health”- is a health psychology course that focuses on the use of community health approaches to address mental and physical health disparities in an experiential learning environment through semester-long field work with communities in the area. The course will be beneficial for students from a variety of disciplines, including psychology, medicine and allied health professions, public health, and/or equity and social justice.
