Summer Fellows Present Research at Sympoium

Brian Kennedy and Nate Toriello presented their research at the Summer Fellows symposium held at Ursinus College.

The Summer Fellows program allows select students to dedicate themselves to focused study of an independent research project. Brian Kennedy, a Politics and IR doubl major from Cliffside Park, New Jersey, examined the prospects for an independent Kurdistan in Iraq, finding increased resolve for independence on the part of Iraqi Kurds and decreased resistance by the United States.  Nate Toriello, an IR major from Philadelphia, studied the effects of climate change on politics in the Middle East, examining the role of environmental factors in the Syrian civil war and cooperation between Israel and Jordan over shared access to the Jordan River.
