The 2018 Robert Rifkin Prize for Best Original Music Composition has been awarded to sophomore Music and Chemistry major Julian Schwartz. The juried annual award, which is open for submissions by anyone majoring in Music, was created in 2017 by the family of Ursinus alumnus.
The winning piece, a string quartet, will be performed during the Celebration of Student Achievement in April 2019. Schwartz plans to engage in further study in composition, possibly as a Music major capstone project during his junior or senior year.
