English Major Welcome Back Party

English majors and minors came together on September 12, 2018 for the annual Welcome Back Party.

The English Department’s annual English Major/Minor party has returned on September 12, 2018. Students gathered in Olin 104 for board games, food, and discussion about English Major perks.

Some students spoke of their time studying abroad. One of these students is Bailey Ludwig ’19, who enjoyed an entire year abroad in Scotland. She talked about the opportunity to be overseas for a whole year and how incredible it was to do hands-on research with medieval texts and artifacts.

Joseph Makuc ’19 discussed his time as an English and History Major. He can delve more into texts and historical occurrences with his majors, and one of his current classes, Bears Make History, allows him to explore archives and Ursinus’ past.

Teachers were also there to introduce themselves, their courses, and additional English major activities. Some of these include The Lantern (Ursinus’ literary magazine), The Grizzly (the school newspaper), Lit Soc (an activity in which students gather together and read poems), and more.

The English department gives thanks to the teachers along with the students who helped organize the event.
