Lost & Found

Ursinus College takes its name from 16th century reformer, teacher and thinker Zacharias Baer (1534–83), who took a Latin version of his German name and became known as Zacharias Ursinus. But what do we know of his teachings?

This centuries-old book may give us a clue.

His theological writings are captured in this hardcover volume archived in the special collections section of the Myrin Library. As far as college archivists can tell, it’s the oldest book in the library. It turns 406 years old this year. Now, can anyone help us translate Latin?
