With an emphasis on participation rather than dollar amount, the one-day challenge is aimed at raising funds and increasing giving participation and engagement among Ursinus’s community of alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and friends.
Donors bested last year’s then-record total of 1,611 participants.
Gifts came in from 44 states as well as Washington D.C., the United Kingdom, Canada, Puerto Rico, Australia, Jamaica, India and Egypt.
Participants in the 24-hour event included 695 Ursinus alumni, 391 students, 163 GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) alumni and 147 first-time donors.
Each #Giving2UCday gift supports Ursinus’s Annual Fund, although donors could choose to give to any other area of need. Giving provides vital resources for students and makes an impact on Ursinus College’s reputation and grant eligibility. Much of the scholarships and financial aid that students receive comes from the college’s unrestricted annual giving program.
Last year, #Giving2UCday raised $212,087.31. #Giving2UCday will take place next year on December 3, 2019.
