LIT Welcomes Stephen Buss ’08 as Web & Systems Management Librarian

LIT is pleased to welcome alum Stephen Buss back to Ursinus as the new Web & Systems Management Librarian.

Stephen will be responsible for managing our new integrated library system, OCLC’s Worldshare Management System (WMS), and our LIT and Library website, including LibGuides. Coming to us most recently from the University of the Sciences, Stephen, who was a History major here at Ursinus, will liaise with our Science Departments for library workshops and classes. Stephen taught a 1-credit Chemistry Literature course at USciences, and worked with departments in both the natural and health sciences, so he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience related to information resources in the sciences. Prior to University of the Sciences, Stephen lived in Washington, DC for 5 years, working at a publishing company.

Stephen has 1-year old son named Owen, whom he describes as a joy – we can’t wait to meet him! Owen loves going to the public library to pick out new books to read, so hopefully he’ll come to Myrin and check out our modest but very cool children’s book collection sometime soon. Stephen has played the oboe since 4th grade, and was a member of the wind ensemble while a student here at Ursinus. Having grown up on a farm, he still helps his parents tend their flock of chickens on occasion, and is happy to receive fresh eggs in return for his labors. He currently lives up in Pennsburg, so the commute to Collegeville is just a little better than going down to Philadelphia every day. It definitely leaves him more time for gardening, taking long walks in the woods and spending time with his family.

All of us in LIT are thrilled to have Stephen join us!
