Ursinus Music Department Welcomes 2019 Performing Arts Scholarship Winner

Matthew Mullin (’23), Percussion, chosen as 2019 Performing Arts Scholarship in Music winner

Ursinus College Music Department is proud to announce that jazz drummer and percussionist Matthew Mullin has been selected as Ursinus’ 2019 Performing Arts Scholarship in Music winner.

Matt, who is an alumnus of the Rowan University Summer Jazz Camp, attended Pennsbury High School, and resides in Fallsington, in PA’s Bucks County. At Pennsbury, Matt performed on drum set with the Concert Jazz Band, and also played percussion with the Marching Band.  In addition to performing in his school’s big band, he has performed with smaller ensembles for special events and with the students from the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts.

Matt intends to stay involved in music at Ursinus by joining the jazz ensemble and taking classes in music theory. When asked why he chose Ursinus, Matt said, “because of the freedom that new students are given to explore various ares of interest.” 

The Ursinus Music Program Scholarship awards $40,000 per year, or $160,000 for four years, to an outstanding student with ability, commitment, and leadership potential. For more information on the scholarship, visit our page at
